Welcome to the Web site of the Campaign for Unmetered Telecommunications (CUT).

The first thing to do is to read everything under the About button, then have a look around. As you will see, we have developed a highly interactive site. This is because you must contribute; no one person, or small group of people, can - for example - monitor every news site or know about every telecommunications operator, so I ask you to help fill in the gaps and drive the site forward.

Again, a small group of people can only spread knowledge of CUT so far, so please help. A few words on an ISP's internal newsgroups or in a mailing list make, from experience, cheap and effective publicity; we also have link graphics which I ask you to use on your own Web site if you have one.

Even if you do nothing else and only visit this site once, please register your support for CUT. Your name will be displayed in our list: we can point to it, and others, and say that so many people agree with what we stand for. Thus we can show that we are not campaigning in a vacuum.

If you want to do more, consider becoming a member. For £10 a year (£5 unwaged) you will get, in the first instance, voting rights, regular newsletters and access to membership services on a restricted part of the site. CUT cannot be run solely on goodwill; there are fees levied, subscriptions payable, leaflets to print and post, events to arrange and other demands on our bank account as we explain in our Financial Summary.

If you want to do yet more, volunteers are always welcome to help spread the load. CUT is a voluntary organisation run in spare time, and time is precious. Contact us if you are interested.

Finally, I know that CUT is taking on a difficult task. It's not impossible, though, and I am heartened by the number of people who emailed me before the launch with messages like 'At last - someone campaigning on this'.
