Our new Mission Statement (21 September 1999)

We've rewritten our Mission Statement; to save you going to that page we reproduce it here.

We campaign for the option of unmetered local telecommunications for all.

Why?

  • The full potential of the Internet can only be realised through it;
  • It will enrich local community life;
  • Traditional and electronic commerce will be enhanced by its availability;
  • It is done elsewhere, profitably;
  • The majority of costs of telecommunications provision are fixed.
How?
  • Educating ourselves;
  • Putting pressure on telecommunications operators, regulatory bodies and Government;
  • Countering misinformation;
  • Encouraging others.
A mere seventy words; if you compare it with the old Mission Statement you'll see it's terser and concentrates on what we aim to do rather than listing abstractions.

The new Mission Statement will be put forward for ratification by the Members at the next Annual General Meeting.
