A quiet month but an unquiet campaign (20 August 1999) Something which always surprises me (Alastair) is the extent to which England shuts down in August. Thus all is relatively quiet on the telecommunications front this month, although we continue to campaign and have had a number of meetings with various people in the past couple of weeks. Some of the Committee members have been, or are going, on holiday, and Nick has sent back a photograph from Arizona of a public phone booth. Not much more needs to be said except that the call he made from the hotel to upload the photograph cost 30 cents (20p) no matter how long it lasted.
