It's good to talk (5 October 1999) We had our first formal (and lengthy at 2½ hours) meeting with BT last Thursday. We met their Head of Pricing Policy and Design. We have agreed not to report the details of this conversation at this point as we undertook to start with an informal and off-the-record conversation to begin the process. BT is keen to have a continuing dialogue with CUT. It does not want to be bland or deliberately miss the point. We explored a variety of the main issues, some technical, some commercial, some social, some regulatory. We have left it that we will put a few of our core questions to BT which will answer them formally. The Committee will formulate what these will be and they will form the agenda for the next meeting.
