Our next OFTEL submission (1 November 2000) OFTEL is embarking on an eight-month consultation process to review the United Kingdom dialup market. We have made a short initial contribution; OFTEL's full consultation paper will appear in December. For now we generally have little to say: we will wait until the full consultation as the dialup market is currently so unstable things said now will date quickly. However, at the moment we mention two problems discussed before, namely the lack of a central clearing house for telecommunications complaints and the lack of supervision of Internet Service Providers, and hope that raising the issues formally now will encourage OFTEL to invite the participants in the full consultation to consider them.
